Artist Statement
Creating and developing art is something that goes beyond a talent or hobby; it is something that is forged within us and sits deep down in our bones. Forming vessels out of clay on a wheel, the push and pull of the conversation between the medium and my being is what makes it part of who I am. Finding the intermittent balance between layers, brushstrokes, and washes is like breathing to me, as the oil, acrylic, and watercolor are my air. I am a traditional, multi-media artist, honing in on my ability to go beyond what is thought to be capable. I enjoy testing the subject, balancing on the edge of reality and conformity, making something feel so out of the ordinary that it can only be found in dreams.

Testing my limits, exploring what a space can do for me, and creating work that speaks to the viewers is my testimony of the reason why I create. The pieces I make, the materials I use, and the meaning of each are something meant to go beyond individual outlets of personal expression. The paintings, the prints, the pottery are so much more than what is conventional; the connections that a person forms with it is what make it a success.

I make my work a therapy, my counselor the product of my thoughts, and the outcome something that is deep and true. Building space for materials to communicate becomes my priority when I make a body of work; viewers should be brought into a piece of my mind or a part of my heart. The inspiration for my art comes from my experiences, feelings, and thoughts, turned into an amalgamation of design, represented as an installation. My work is meant to do more than just fill gallery space; it is meant to forge connections and bond with the viewers on a deeper level.

Vision Statement
Art is an invitation for people to reach out and experience the lives around them, the feelings and emotions that carry others through the day and through their lives. My work aims to evoke strong feelings from the viewers, as I want them to feel what I do during the process of making. By using a variety of different materials, I piece together works that frame the idea of feeling through a psychological process, of going through thoughtful moments, and moments of complete mental absence. My work is meant to inspire others to create and feel with every step in the artmaking process, just as I have.
